"Development of high-degree reader/writer for radio-frequency identification to materialize the next generation store", which has been pursued by an industry (Sanden Corporation) -government-academia research and development consortium,
was adopted by the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry of METI, as a "Fiscal 2006's Regional newborn consortium research and development business" on May 31, 2006. In view of this, we decided to start full-fledged research and development work,
aiming to commercialize this project in fiscal 2008 and beyond.
Two years of fiscal 2006 and 2007 are designated as a period for this business, and so we will conduct high-level research and development work,
aiming toward practical application of a reader/writer for radio-frequency identification in fiscal 2008 and beyond, under a strong industry-government-academia consortium (regional newborn consortium).
To be more precise, by this research and development work, we will attempt to solve problems with which a reader/writer becomes unreadable due to the structure or quality of materials used for showcases equipped with a reader/writer for radio-frequency identification.
If these problems are solved, communication between goods (showcase) and goods (individual products) will become possible, and accurate movement conditions and a track record of merchandise will become perceivable.
We will proactively tackle this research and development, aiming to realize the practical application of this built-in type reader/writer from this time on.
Sanden Corporation will create new business models in this age of a ubiquitous network, and proceed with the expansion of store business by incorporating a reader/writer which can consistently read radio-frequency identifications regardless of where,
when, and how to use it, into all kinds of products dealt by the Commercial Store System Division, such as the showcases of convenient stores (CVS) and supermarkets.
