Sanden has decided to construct a new plant in the city of Polkowice in Poland. This is the second production base, following to its plant in France (Rennes). Sanden purchased 200,000 square meters of site in the Province of Polkowice and will construct a new plant aiming toward full operations in 2005. The new plant will produce compressors for Automotive air conditioners and related parts. Sanden plans to invest some EURO60 million to this new plant and recruit about 200 employees. It will make an additional investment and hire some new 300 workers according to future sales progress.
Sanden has predicted that the demand for Automotive air conditioners will firmly increase in Europe. It had a plan to increase its production in Europe to meet such demand, and also strengthen its production bases to respond to movement of auto manufacturers to shift their production to Eastern Europe. It has therefore decided to construct a new plant in Poland with the support provided by its national government and Polkowice provincial authorities. Products and parts manufactured in this plant will be distributed mainly to major auto manufacturers in Europe.
Sanden has been promoting global development by establishing bases for production, distribution, research, and service in Europe, following those in North America and Asia. It will continue to aim for further expansion of a global shares with the construction of this new plant as a driving force.
